About Us

I’m David W. Ross, actor, filmmaker, and creator of the Slatable app.
Slatable started with a simple, stressful moment. I had two hours to turn in a self tape and no one to read with me. I scrambled, searched online, called a friend, and tried to piece together a solution using multiple apps. It was clunky, frustrating, and it took up the time I should’ve spent actually preparing the audition.
After I submitted the tape, I couldn’t believe there wasn’t an app designed specifically for actors — something that made it easy to create self tapes quickly and professionally, without needing a reader or juggling editing tools. I wanted to focus on my craft, not the tech.
So I built Slatable.
Slatable lets you record the other character’s lines and play them back while you film your takes. You can then quickly create a pro-level, submission-ready tape in seconds — no extra gear, no editing software, no studio. Just you, your audition, and the freedom to self tape anytime, anywhere.
We launched our first beta in 2015, and since then, Slatable has helped thousands of actors around the world take control of their audition process. We keep improving the app based on what real actors need, because we are actors too – and we know how this hustle works.
Self taping doesn’t have to be a hassle. With Slatable, it isn’t.
